Hard to believe that we have been at it for almost a month, with only one long weekend reprieve! Students are working hard and that is pleasant to watch.
In French 4, we have been reading some news articles and discussing the content, and last week, we had small and big group discussion pertaining to education - there were several pre-written questions, and each group could decide which topic they wished to tackle - free or paid tuition colleges?; which courses might be more relevant today?; what technologies do to help learn, and could you survive without them? and so on..Students had to come up with pros and cons for the topics and present them to peers, after which we opened up the discussion for more input.
In French 3, we have just wrapped up our first full unit, with lots of hard work, quizzes and a test. This week is kind of reward week, with a lighter load - learn a poem, seek out street art, and research some artist and their work to present to class.
Also, both classes will get their personal responses from Nikole (our PCV from Senegal) and will take time to write back this week. She is hoping that sometime this fall, we can put together a care package for her...
